PhD Position in Modeling of Induced Seismicity at GEoREST (IDAEA-CSIC-erc). Deadline to send the CV before 29th February 2020.

WE OFFER: 3-year PhD position for modeling induced post-injection seismicity as a result of fluid injection/extraction related to geothermal energy, geologic carbon storage and subsurface energy storage. The position is related to the ERC-StG project GEoREST (predictinG EaRthquakES induced by fluid injecTion), funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The candidate will perform her/his research at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in a collaborative and enthusiastic environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for highly motivated, perseverant and creative individuals with strong analytical and problem solving skills willing to leave their footprint on science. Candidates should hold a MSc in Engineering or Physics obtained within the last 3 years and have good knowledge on geomechanics and/or geotechnical engineering and hydrogeology. Experience in numerical modeling and programming will be appreciated.

‘La ciencia según Forges’, una exposición-homenaje a Antonio Fraguas, en Barcelona

Llega a la Residencia de Investigadores del CSIC la exposición homenaje de esta misma institución al dibujante Antonio Fraguas‘La Ciencia según Forges’. La muestra, enmarcada en el 80 aniversario del Consejo, recoge 66 viñetas de temática científica y tecnológica que el humorista gráfico publicó en El País entre 1995 y 2018.

Contract for Project Manager and Fundraiser Working for the IDAEA-CSIC

WE OFFER: To work for a leading multidisciplinary environmental research institute, recently awarded Center of Excellence Severo Ochoa, with the primary objective of enhancing research potential and output by attracting external funding and elaborating international project proposals.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful applicant will be responsible for the expansion of research activities within the institute by raising income received by the various IDAEA research groups. Specific tasks will include (1) identifying calls and helping to formulate proposals at European and Worldwide levels, targeting agencies, foundations and both the private and public sector; (2) involvement in technical and financial planning and management of research projects successfully won.
