Old canalization, built in the Middle Ages taking advantage of a Roman water route next to the Besòs river that transported water, by the force of gravity, from Montcada to the sea in Barcelona city. In the House of the Mine is the Old Mine, built by the architect Joan Soler i Faneca, which channels the ground water of the Besòs river to the Reixagó, the mouth where it comes to the surface.
11:00 Third stop The House of Water - Montcada i Reixac (200 m). In Barcelona, in 1878, the drought is extreme, and insufficient water supply, the flow of Rec Comtal has been greatly reduced. An emergency solution is needed. The authorities commissioned the architect Antoni Rovira i Trias to build an extraction and pumping station for the water of the Besòs river.
The complex is built quickly and will work effectively for a hundred years, until the contamination of the aquifers will force it to close.
