conTIMEminació

On the occasion of the celebration - on 5th June - of the World Environment Day and with the aim of making explicit the special link between the work of the CID Institutes (IQAC and IDAEA) and the international commitment in this regard, it has been placed on the wall next to the main entrance of the Sala D'Actes, the exhibition conTIMEminació, an original work by the artist Francisco Martínez Gómez, with the collaboration of IDAEA researchers Xavier Querol and Sergi Díez.

The installation consists of twelve clocks that mark the time of twelve cities in different parts of the world that present problems of environmental pollution, based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2016 on air quality and the presence of suspended particles. The project proposes a reflection on the volume of pollution to which we citizens are subjected and outlines the allegorical ending to which we would not understand the magnitude of this risk.

Each of the clocks will continue to spin as long as their needles are able to overcome the increasing and incessant resistance of the foreign substance that hinders them.

Can our cities continue to spin their needles?

How much time?
