CSIC's Library Network (through SURAD) joins the RapidILL COVID-19 initiative

SURAD, the URICI's Service for Obtaining Documents, joined the “COVID-19 pod” last May 5, 2020 within the RapidILL initiative.
RapidILL is the tool implemented by Ex Libris for the interlibrary loan of electronic resources. Its operation is based on the creation of "pods" or groups of libraries united by geographical and thematic interests, etc.
The “COVID-19 pod” brings together more than 175 North American libraries that have joined together to share their electronic resources with the rest of the world's libraries, some of which, due to the global situation of the pandemic, have serious difficulties in accessing their printed collections or those of other libraries. In this initiative, libraries that join the "COVID-19 pod" will be able, for a period of three months, to request any document through that pod at no cost and without any service in return.
The difference with other interlibrary loan systems is that RapidILL has an algorithm that automatically selects which library to send the request to, so that the requesting library only has to indicate which document it needs and not which library it wants to request it from.
