New "Read and Publish in Open Access" agreement at the CSIC. Now with the Geological Society of London.

The CSIC, through the URICI, has signed a new Transformative Agreement ("Read and Publish" model), this time with the scientific society, The Geological Society of London. The latter publishes one of the largest online collections of earth science literature, the Lyell Collection, which includes Society journal titles, special publications, and book series, as well as journals published on behalf of other societies.
With this new agreement, the Geological Society of London will publish in open access an unlimited number of journal articles and book series chapters from corresponding author CSIC publications, both hybrid (7 journals and 4 book series) and Gold OA (one journal and one book series), submitted to the publisher from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. In addition, the number of centers currently able to read Lyell Collection journals has been expanded to one more.
This new agreement joins the rest of the academic publishers listed in PROA (CSIC Open Access Publishing Program for Authors). By 2025, PROA will offer some form of APC (article processing cost) funding to more than 30 publishers. The process initiated more than a decade ago encompasses both large commercial scientific publishers and smaller ones linked to universities or academic societies, such as the Geological Society of London. Some are multidisciplinary, while others, like this one, focus on a limited number of subjects in which they specialize.
