DIGITAL.CSIC obtains the FECYT 2025 Quality Award with Special Mention in Data Management

The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) has published the final resolution of the first edition of the open access repository quality assessment process, recognizing DIGITAL.CSIC as one of the institutional repositories that has successfully passed this assessment. In addition, DIGITAL.CSIC has been awarded the Mention of Good Practices in Research Data Management, a recognition that underscores our commitment to excellence in scientific data management.

This process, a pioneer at the national level, is part of the National Open Science Strategy (ENCA) and aims to promote quality, visibility, and good practices in institutional repositories. The evaluation was structured around six areas: policies, metadata, interoperability, logs/statistics, visibility, and research data management. DIGITAL.CSIC demonstrated a high level of compliance in all of them, particularly in data management, an area evaluated using recommended criteria that reflect a commitment to transparency, accessibility, and reuse of scientific information.

Of the 39 participating repositories, 31 have obtained the FECYT Quality Mark, and only 10 have received the Good Data Management Practices Award. This double recognition positions DIGITAL.CSIC as a national benchmark in the open science ecosystem, consolidating its role as a key infrastructure for the dissemination of knowledge generated by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

This recognition provides an impetus to continue advancing in the continuous improvement of our services, in line with FAIR principles and European open access policies. We thank FECYT for this initiative, which contributes to strengthening the quality and trust in institutional repositories, and we reaffirm our commitment to a more open, collaborative, and responsible science.
